Check the parking lot of Whole Foods between 2 and 6 p.m.

The new Whole Foods Market on Washington Street will host opening day of Wellesley’s very own farmers' market this afternoon. The market opens today at 2 p.m. and will feature baby bok choy, sweet peas, micro greens, cheddar buns and flowers—a sampling of what will be available throughout the summer, according to a press release by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, which is underwriting the market. The market, which will be open Thursdays through October, is a collaborative of town boards, committees and volunteers. The market will have an official opening ceremony next Thursday.

Faber’s Rug Co. Expands on Central Street

The rug company announced its new front door yesterday.

Customers can now walk into Faber’s Rug Co. from the street. The company expanded to 19 Central St., the space where Thunder Sports used to be. Thunder closed in December. "We always wanted a proper front door right on the street," said owner Tom Faber in a e-mailed statement. "The expanded space gives us the opportunity to display carpets so they are easily viewed by our customers." The shop has been in Wellesley for 58 years.

New Regulation Allowing Small Restaurants to Apply For Alcohol Licenses Passes

The Board of Selectmen unanimously passed a measure last night, which allows restaurants with a minimum of 50 seats to apply for alcohol licenses.

Cafe Mangal, Susu Bakery and several other smaller Wellesley restaurants may soon be able to serve beer, wine or a liquor drink at a customer’s request. The Board of Selectmen last night passed a measure, which allows restaurants with a minimum of 50 seats to apply for an all-alcohol license effective today. Until today, restaurants had to have a minimum of 100 seats to apply for a license to serve alcohol. There are 17 available all-alcohol and six beer and wine only licenses, according to Hans Larsen, executive director of general government services. The board’s approval was the final step toward the passage of the amended bylaw. The town voted overwhelmingly in favor of the new regulations at the March 13 election. Not everyone in the …

Awning Missing in Wellesley Square

What Happened Here returns with some odd rubble and a missing awning on Central Street.

The awning that used to cover the entrances to the row of shops, which includes Wellesley Toy Shop, O’Neil Jewelers and Lacrosse Unlimited has disappeared. Yesterday at around 6:45 p.m., there was some rubble on the sidewalk in front of Lacrosse Unlimited on Central Street as well. Simple remodeling or something else? Local Spinning Studio Introduces App

Spynergy says they’re the first cycling studio to offer bookings via their new smartphone app.

Spynergy Cycling Studio based in Wellesley has developed its own app. The app, available via the Android Market and iPhone App Store, allows customers to book classes, purchase class packages and make account changes, according to a press statement. Bill Pryor, co-owner of Spynergy, said the app is an upgrade from the company’s online reservations system. When we first opened, reservations were in a 3-ring binder, and class cards were kept in a shoe box,” said Pryor. “Four years ago we introduced an online reservation system and business took off. Now we have an app that takes booking convenience to the next level.” Spynergy has been at 386 Washington St. for seven years. The studio, co-owned by Bill Pryor’s sister Alex Klemmer of Needham…

Roosters Old Fashioned Barber Shop Opens in Linden Square

An old-timey shop at Wellesley’s newly reformed square.

Roosters Men’s Grooming Center opened its doors Saturday at 180 Linden St. The dark, wood-paneled shop harkens back to a time when a shave and a haircut may have actually been two bits. A haircut at Roosters includes a shampoo, head massage, steam towel, powder, aftershave and cologne for $35, according to owner John Santanella. The seven-step hot lather shave is also $35, and full beard-trimming services are offered as well. Santanella had been researching franchises for a year before settling on Roosters. “I lived and worked in London a few years ago, and one of the highlights of my week was a trip to the local barbershop on Saturday mornings,” he said in a statement. Roosters has locations throughout the country, but the Wellesley shop …

Alcohol Regulations Public Hearing Scheduled for Monday

The Board of Selectmen will hold the hearing as part of its weekly meeting.

The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on a possible change to alcohol service regulations in Wellesley Monday. Based on permissions granted both by last year’s Special Town Meeting vote, the general assembly of the state, and a town vote, the Board of Selectmen may now grant up to six liquor licenses to restaurants in Wellesley which have 50 or more seats, according to the regulations. Previously, restaurants had to have 100 seats to qualify for a liquor license. The board has yet to enact the decision, however, and will await public input. The town voted “yes” 2,749 to 457 to a March ballot question, which asked if the town would accept this change. Copies of the proposed changes, regulations and history of the alcohol …
