POLL: Which TV Show Are You Sad Will Air No More?

Every May, the networks release their list of cancelled shows. Which one will you miss the most?

Every May, the networks release their list of cancelled shows. On the list may be a new show, the network never gave a chance or a favorite, the network thinks has run its life. CBS has made its CSI decision: CSI: Miami is being cancelled after a rather incredible 10-season run. Some in the industry feel Fox made a mistake not picking up this ambitious drama for a second season, reported Entertainment Weekly. Terra Nova managed the rare feat of delivering a sizable family audience to a broadcast drama, found its legs creatively in its final hours and there was nothing else like it on TV. Cost was a factor, reported Entertainment Weekly. Once top shows like House and Desperate Housewives will air no more, either. Chuck had its series finale…

Reality Meets Fiction in ‘Darcy’s Cinematic Life’

Middle School students will perform the 55-minute production next week.

Wellesley middle schoolers will bring elements of their real lives into a short play next week. Students will perform “Darcy’s Cinematic Life,” a 55-minute production about an everyday middle school-aged girl named Darcy. The play, written originally by Christa Crewds, will be interspersed with monologues by Wellesley students, which will inject some realness to this work of fiction, according to Director Leah Fine. “I created the idea of adding monologues to add roles to our show.  But these monologues also make the story more real, give us the sense that although ‘Darcy's Cinematic Life’ is a fiction, it stems from reality and the hardships these students face in school every day,” she said in a statement. “One student stood out to me …

Meadmore’s Work at Wellesley College is First in Mass. [PHOTOS]

The work of late Australian-born artist Clement Lyon Meadmore is in town.

The late Australian-born artist Clement Lyon Meadmore’s sculpture “Upsurge” is on display at Wellesley College. This is the first time Meadmore’s work has been displayed in Massachusetts, according to Wellesley College spokeswoman Nina J. Berger. The structure, which stands 20 x 13 x 8 feet and weighs nearly 1500 pounds—is sited between Diana Chapman Walsh Alumnae Hall and the Davis Parking Facility, on a small curved grassy landscape feature located near the College’s Route 135 main entrance.  "Upsurge" comes to Wellesley through Bob and Lynn Johnston ’64, who is a member of the College’s board of trustees.

Wellesley Filmmaker Examines 'Apple Pushing' in NYC

Mary Mazzio presents her film “The Apple Pushers” at a film festival in Boston this weekend.

In New York City there is no shortage of street food. There’s everything from kabobs to hot dogs, sausages and chicken. Mostly, it’s delicious, but is any of it healthy? This is the question asked in Wellesley filmmaker Mary Mazzio’s documentary “The Apple Pushers,” which takes an active approach to the issue. Her film follows five street cart vendors taking part of New York City’s Green Cart Initiative, which offers fresh fruits and vegetables in New York’s low-income populations. These city areas – known as “food deserts” – have the least amount of access to healthy food. “They have all kinds of food but nothing healthy,” Mazzio said in a phone interview. She said a high-ranking health commissioner in New York calls them “food swamps” …

Spring Strawberries and Cream on Biscuits

Pair fresh strawberries with sugar, cream and buttermilk biscuits for a delicious Spring dessert.

"One must ask children and birds how cherries and strawberries taste." ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe I noticed the other day that our strawberry plants are beginning to grow and I already can't wait to pick them fresh from the garden. They are much smaller than the berries you get at the supermarket but they are sweeter and tastier. I immediately began to crave strawberry shortcake. I stopped at the market and found some nice red ripe strawberries but there were no packages of shortcakes in sight. I thought about making my own (nah, too lazy). I looked at the angel food cake (nah, not one of my favorites). Then I wandered over to get the cream and there was my answer...buttermilk biscuits. Just pop open the can, throw 'em in the oven and …
