Shifty Looks and Quick Turns
While conducting traffic enforcement along Route 9 at 3 p.m. on Feb. 28, Officer Carrasquilo reported seeing a green Oldsmobile drive past. The driver of which looked at the police cruiser, and then looked away in what police say was a supicious manner. After querying the license plate, the officer learned that the vehicle registration had been revoked. So, he attempted to catch up with him.
The Oldsmobile may have taken an illegal right turn, because police were unable to find the driver as they approached Oak Street. They turned around at the Audubon/Kingsbury turn-around, and saw the same Oldsmobile going westbound--the driver again looked at officer Carrasquilo, who said he looked surprised by the cruiser.
Again, an attempt to pull him over, and again the driver was lost in traffic--possibly near Sprague Street. So, after radioing in the description of the vehicle and driver, and the license plate.
Dispatch reported a vehicle matching the description parked at the Route 9 Dunkin Donuts. Carrasquilo drover there and found the operator and the Oldsmobile. When asked why the driver turned off the road, he claimed he didn't know and was lost.
Police arrested and charged Holliston man Derek Dennison, 27, with failing to stop for a police officer, driving an uninsured vehicle, and driving after a suspension. They also learned he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, one for assault-and-battery from a Boston court, and one from Wrentham District Court for vehicle offenses.
While inventorying the car, police also found some marijuana, and cited Dennison with a bylaw citation for possession of less than an ounce.
Unable to pay bail, Dennison was taken to court the following morning.
