Wellesley Police Log: Speedy Lane Changer Arrested for OUI

The following information was supplied by the Wellesley Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following reports were provided by the Wellesley Police Department. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

While patrolling Route 9, Officer Derby reported seeing a Honda sedan a few cars ahead which crossed the fog lanes. He then saw the vehicle make an abrupt lane change, which made the vehicle behind him sharply hit the brakes. After making a second abrupt shift, and speeding up to 60, officers pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver.

The driver, who was later identified as Felipe Desouza, 29, of Ashland, told police that he did not have his license on him, and spent a few minutes searching for the registration papers. Officer Derby reported a smell like marijuana smoke, and that he saw what looked like several hand-rolled, half-smoked marijuana cigarettes in the car.

When he asked, the driver said that he had smoked within the last half-hour. His speech was slow, according to police reports, and he was subjected to field sobriety tests, some of which he failed. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, unsafe lane changes, failing to stay in marked lanes and speeding. He was released on personal recognizance.

There is no indication that this man was an undocumented alien, or even an immigrant, which means your comment is in poor taste at best and offensive at worst. Consider this a warning.
