Wellesley Man to Bid on Globe

Several outlets are reporting that a Wellesley resident is planning on making a play to own the Globe.

Yet another bid has come through the pipeline for the Boston Globe, according to several news outlets this morning, this time it's coming from Wellesley.

Aaron Kushner, 37, plans to make a bid to the New York Times Co., the Globe's owning entity, for an undisclosed sum to purchase the New England Media Group, whose major holdings are the Globe, and the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, though it is not currently on the market.

In an interview with the Globe yesterday, Kushner said his group of about a dozen investors seek primarily to set the Globe on the track toward growth once again.

The New England Media Group was was nearly sold last year, but the Times Co. eventually withdrew the group from the market saying the Globe specifically had shown signs of stabilizing finanicially.
