Katherine K. Macdonald, executive director of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, talks about what makes it Wellesley's hidden gem.

To get to the Massachusetts Horticultural Society – The Gardens at Elm Bank from the east, one must drive through almost the entirety of Wellesley, past the outskirts of Wellesley College, by a local farm and eventually over a wooden bridge on which only one car can drive at a time.

But once there, you’ll be treated to 36 acres of grasses, plants, vast green expanses, beautiful historic buildings and a good dose of peace and quiet.

Located on the Wellesley/Dover line, The Massachusetts Horticultural Society has activities and plant and herb sales year round – the hilly terrain makes it a great winter sledding spot, too!
