Three Things To Do This Weekend In Wellesley

Wellesley Patch puts some thought into your weekend, so you don't have to.

If you're wracking your brains to avoid twiddling your thumbs this weekend, you've come to the right place - here are three things to do this weekend in Wellesley:

Thing number one: The July Jubilation . Sure, we profiled this already, but it bears repeating as arguably the biggest thing going on in town this weekend. Central Street is shut down from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and merchants, entertainers and attractions take over. What's not to love?

Thing number two: A walk on Fuller Brook path, if you're not into all that socializing. Town Meeting approved the design phase of an overhaul of the path in April, and NRC officials note that one of the things they'll be looking at is a number of invasive species they'll have to remove to protect the local ecosystem, and stop erosion.

The trail starts at Maugus Avenue and follows the Caroline Brook to Wellesley High School, where it joins Fuller Brook. Then it runs along Fuller Brook Park, past the Hunnewell School, and ends across from the Nehoiden Golf Course. The trail, which is marked with pink arrows, is 2.3 miles. Check it out and see if you can see the forest for the weeds.

Thing number three: Confirm William Congreve's assertion that music has charms to, among other things, soften rocks and bend a knotted oak, at Wellesley College. The institution is begins hosting the Composers Conference from July 18 through Aug. 1.
