The Wellesley Police Department is making the public aware of a relatively recent pre-Halloween tradition that involves candy and running around in the dark.
“Ghosting” is when someone leaves a bag of candy on a doorstep with a notice on the door saying “You’ve been ghosted,” according to informational websites the police have posted on its website.
The websites seem to refer to this tradition as innocuous, but police say they receive calls about being “ghosted” each year.

Not sure that it is, really. I think the police just want to make sure the public knows that this happens.
