Police Report Sept. 20-26

No Arrests by Wellesley Police; Car Reported Stolen was Borrowed Without Permission

The Wellesley Police Department enjoyed its quietest week in months, making not a single arrest Sept. 20-26.

"That happens from time to time," police spokeswoman Lt. Marie Cleary said. "It's good."

Local police did make 107 traffic stops during the week and responded to 16 motor vehicle accidents.

They also received a trio of complaints about vandalisms in the area of Barton Road. Three people reported scratches on their cars, but the incidents occurred on different days, and the department has no reason believe they are related, Cleary said.

Even a car reported stolen last Thursday was, in fact, simply borrowed without permission. A Boston Sports Club employee, needing to retrieve an item from her house, borrowed the vehicle from a coworker without asking, according to Cleary. The offending employee will be summoned to Dedham District Court for wrongful possession of a motor vehicle.
