Domestic disputes and a stolen phone keep WPD busy.
Search for stolen phone reveals marijuana leaves, pipe
On Sept. 7, at 5:55 p.m., Matthew Leighton Burgess, 22, of 36 Varick Hill Road, Waban was arrested and charged with larceny over $250 and possession of a Class D substance.
At 4:51 p.m., police were called to the Boston Sports Club at 140 Great Plain Avenue to investigate a stolen phone. According to a police report, an officer interviewed multiple witnesses and determined Burgess was the only person in the vicinity of the phone before it was stolen.
A second officer located a black duffel bag belonging to Burgess in an area restricted to BSC employees. The officer found the missing phone in the bag and also discovered marijuana leaves and a pipe. Burgess was bailed after his arrest.
Local man accused of assaulting two women, one elderly
On Sept. 9, at 8:45 p.m., William F. Joy III, 35, of Wellesley was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery on an elderly person, domestic assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and intimidating a witness.
At 8:35 p.m., police responded to a call about a domestic dispute and were met at the door by two women who were visibly shaking, according to a police report. The women said Joy had pushed them and brandished a knife, though he did not use it. One of the women was over 60.
Joy was unable to meet his $1,000 bail and was held overnight, then transported to Dedham District Court. The Wellesley Police Department does not release complete addresses in domestic assault cases.
Officer on foot spots target of East Boston warrant
On Sept. 10, at 3:08 p.m., Sarith Suan, 35, of 87 Barton Road was arrested on a default warrant from East Boston District Court for carrying a dangerous weapon and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license.
An officer performing a lock and walk (in which he locks his cruiser and leaves it to patrol on foot) in the area of Barton Road saw Suan leave a house and knew Suan was the target of a warrant. The officer confirmed the warrant was still active, by which time Suan had gotten into a car and started driving.
The officer stopped Suan's vehicle and placed him under arrest. Suan was transported to East Boston District Court.
Local man arrested after argument turns physical
On Sept. 11, at 6:45 p.m., Yee Kung, 42, of Wellesley was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery.
At 6:18 p.m., police responded to a call about a domestic dispute and encountered Kung and a woman, both of whom said they had a verbal argument that became physical. Kung was bailed after his arrest.
