Here's this week's President's Day edition of Patch Picks, a column devoted to picking the right places for you to check out week to week. 

In this column, Wellesley Patch will provide useful lists to help you, your family, friends, and significant others find the best places for everything from Sunday brunch to New Year’s Eve celebrations, pumpkin patches, date night destinations, florists, girlfriend nights out, kids party places, parks and more. Today we're presenting a list of local nonprofit organizations that are making a difference in Wellesley.

• Wellesley Hills Junior Women's Club - Aside from the locally popular Luminary Night and annual middle school crafts fair, this organization is always giving back to Wellesley. Last year alone, it provided $137,000 to the community in the form of scholarships and donations, according to the WHJWC website.
• Cite Soleil Opportunity Council - This Wellesley High School student-based organization sells Haitian artists' works stateside in an effort to funnel much needed money and medicine to Cite Soleil, a section of Port-au-Prince, Haiti ravaged by the January 2010 earthquake.

• Fund for Wellesley - This Wellesley-centric endowment fund has aided Wellesley in numerous ways for years. It specializes in a few key areas: suicide prevention, senior services and after-school programming for youth to name a few. During the first quarter of this year, the Fund for Wellesley has taken part in the launch of a volunteer driver program for senior citizens, according to its website.

• Wellesley Scholarship Foundation - For 50 years, this nonprofit has provided scholarships to Wellesley High School students. Its scholarship amounts range from $500 to $9,000 each year, and the money goes “directly to students,” according to its website.

• Wellesley Education Foundation - This foundation also operates to benefit the public schools of Wellesley. One of its major annual fundraisers is a heavily attended adult spelling bee in the fall.
