Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run Interviewed; Police Seek Witness

The Wellesley Police have located and interviewed the driver in the hit-and-run accident that caused the death of a bicyclist Friday.

The “apparent operator” of the vehicle involved in Friday’s fatal hit-and-run accident on Weston Road has been interviewed by police, but police are on the lookout for the driver of a second vehicle who may have witnessed the accident.

Police located both the vehicle involved in the incident and the witnessing vehicle based on traffic video footage, according to a Wellesley Police statement released Sunday.

The witnessing vehicle is and older model grey 4-door Volvo station wagon with a roof rack and moon roof, according to the statement. This car appears to have damage to the rear driver’s side door.

“We are urging the individual who was operating this vehicle to contact the Wellesley Police Department at 781-235-1212,” the statement says.

Police and emergency crews responded to Weston Road and Linden Street Friday afternoon after bicyclist Alexander Motsenigos, 41, of Wellesley was struck and killed by a truck traveling northbound.

Police are not releasing information about the motor vehicle involved in the accident because it is an ongoing investigation.
