The Wellesley Police Department is advising drivers to stay away from the area of Washington Street and Glen Road as emergency crews repair a gas leak in the area.

“This stretch of road is usually very busy, especially in the evening commute,” the alert says. “Please try and avoid this area this afternoon, or expect to be delayed if you have to travel on Washington Street near the Lower Falls.”

Police say there will likely be significant delays in the area throughout the day and into the night. Wellesley Police will send out an alert when the road is clear.
