Wellesley Wrestling Continues to Rack Up the Wins
The Wellesley Wrestling Team took their 14th win of the season over Newton North at a home meet on Wednesday night. The Raiders’ record increased to 14-1 with a final score of 37-29.
The team fought their way to victory with decisive pins by sophomores Hamed Nilforoshan, Thomas Nocka, and Ben Dario, junior A.J. Madden, and senior Dan Farina. Hard fought wins by junior Eric Pinsker-Smith and senior Cameron Heydari sealed the fate of the Newton North Tigers.
The wrestling team made their mark this past Saturday at the Natick Tournament, finishing 3rd out of 18 teams.
A Wellesley Wrestler medaled in almost every weight class. Dan Farina led the Raiders with his first place finish at 220 pounds followed closely by Hamed Nilforoshan who came in second at 106 pounds. Third place medals were earned by Cameron Heydari (132 pounds), Clayton Krueger (145), Danny Biotti (152), A.J. Gringnaffini (160), and Thomas Nocka (182). Steven Selvidge (113) and Ben Dario (195) took fourth place spots, while Angel Blaise (160) took fifth, and Jacob Chicoski (120) and Jack Murray (138) took sixth in their divisions.
The Raiders will wrestle this Saturday at the Weymouth Tournament, and will host Braintree at home on Wednesday night at 7pm.
