Wellesley Residents Attend Walk for Hunger Awards Ceremony
(Boston, MA – July 10, 2012) Wellesley residents Valerie Collins, age 14, Eleanor Parker, age 14, and Lucy Elwy, age 13, pose under the balloon arch at Project Bread’s recent Walk Celebration and Awards Ceremony held at the Museum of Science in Boston. The ceremony recognized the success of the 44th annual Walk for Hunger, which had more than 43,000 participants and raised $3.6 million to help fight hunger in Massachusetts. Eleanor was the second highest youth fundraiser in 2012, raising $3,150. Her friends, Valerie and Lucy raised $1,203 and $715, respectively. They are all proudly among a group of young Heart & Sole Walkers, meaning they raised more than $500 in one year, and Valerie and Eleanor are also among the Leadership Circle.
