Wellesley College Takes Top Marks on Annual College Sustainability Report Card

Wellesley College has received a grade of "A-" on the annual College Sustainability Report Card, released by the Sustainable Endowments Institute today. The report seeks to recognize colleges and universities that are leading by example on sustainability from among schools with the 300 largest endowments, plus 22 additional schools that applied for inclusion.

Wellesley has also been recognized in each of the institute's three award categories for sustainability, including being named an overall college sustainability leader and an endowment sustainability leader.

The "A-" grade marks a significant improvement from last year, when Wellesley received a "B-" from the institute. Large strides were made in many of the categories considered in the report, including transportation, green building, administration and food and recycling.

Since 1875, Wellesley College has been a leader in providing an excellent liberal arts education for women who will make a difference in the world. Its 500-acre campus near Boston is home to 2,300 undergraduate students from all 50 states and 75 countries. For more information, go to www.wellesley.edu.
