The Rivers School Conservatory Launches New Chamber Music Program
WESTON, MA – The Rivers School Conservatory (RSC) is launching a new Chamber Music Program, starting in September 2012. Each participating chamber music student will receive a weekly hour-long meeting with a Rivers chamber music coach, the opportunity to participate in special programs with guest artists on Saturdays, and the chance to perform in one gala concert per semester.
In concert with the launch of this program, the Conservatory welcomes Gillian Rogell as the new Director of Chamber Music. Rogell founded the Aspinwall Hill Chamber Music Foundation (formerly the Heart of Chamber Music Institute) in 1999.
Rogell holds a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. She is an active violist and chamber musician, and was coached by master chamber musicians such as the original Hungarian Quartet, Edgar Ortenberg of the Budapest Quartet, and Eugene Lehner.
Rogell has been a faculty member at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School since 1977. She currently directs the chamber music department at NEC’s School of Continuing Education and is a faculty member at the Walnut Hill School. She also has her own private chamber music studio in Brookline.
Entry into Rivers’ new chamber music program is audition-based. Auditions are scheduled for June 3 and 4. Please call The Rivers School Conservatory at 781-235-6840 to schedule an audition time.
